We enjoy heading to the Dallas Arboretum, located just fifteen minutes from downtown on White Rock Lake. This nationally acclaimed garden features stunning floral displays throughout the year, along with popular seasonal events. Dallas Blooms is the largest annual floral festival in the Southwest with more than 500,000 spring blooming bulbs, and Autumn at the Arboretum features over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash turned into creative displays. We like to grab a grilled cheese and elote from the seasonal kiosk, then find a spot to sit and relax by the water. 

The Nasher Sculpture Center is a must see in the Arts District. Designed by Renzo Piano, it holds one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world, including works by Picasso, Rodin, and Calder. The indoor galleries and outdoor garden create a peaceful setting. We recommend checking out their events like free First Saturdays with family activities or the evening music and film nights. 

Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff ranks among our favorite neighborhoods for a full day of wandering. We love the mix of independent boutiques, vintage stores, record shops, and galleries alongside diverse dining options, from Texas style BBQ to Vietnamese pho. Some spots we return to include Written by the Seasons for their kimchi pancakes, Enos for cracker thin crust pizza, and Emporium Pies for the Cloud Nine pie. The Paradiso courtyard makes a nice stop for drinks while exploring the district. 

In the Knox Henderson area, Black Optical stands out as a cool Dallas based eyewear spot. Since opening in 2016, they have focused on curating top-quality sunglasses and prescription frames while treating every customer like a friend. Located in one of the strongest retail corridors near Highland Park, it is a genuine local favorite that reflects the thoughtful side of Dallas shopping. 

DLM Supply, in Oak Cliff, embodies Dallas roots with a quirky and unique approach to retail. It blends style and community through carefully chosen apparel, accessories, and footwear. We like how it outfits customers with distinctive pieces that feel personal, making it a standout spot for discovering something special. 

Dolly Python is one of the coolest vintage stores in DFW with an incredible selection of clothing, antiques, oddities, and high-quality vintage cowboy boots. Celebrities and locals stop by for truly unique finds, especially the boots. The store has even been recognized by Vogue. 

A worthwhile trip to Fort Worth brings us to Goldees, a straightforward barbecue joint in a wooden shack known for long lines every day. We recommend it for classic Texas barbecue with tender brisket, pork ribs, sausages, and sides like cheesy grits or potato salad. Be prepared for a giant plate of smoked meats and sides. 

Grange Hall, in Knox, combines retail and restaurant in a world renowned luxury setting that is inspiring. We enjoy browsing the mix of jewelry, accessories, home goods, apothecary, epicure, and floral offerings all under one roof. The sophisticated, design focused environment paired with lunch service showcases the artistic and elevated side of Dallas retail. 

Green Point, on Knox, is a chic brasserie started by Katz Brothers Hospitality Group that offers a take on a modern seafood brasserie based on the owners' South African grandparents' neighborhood cuisine. The emerald green interior design is elegant and comfortable. We suggest trying favorites like the tuna tartare on toast, lobster roll, or La Perla platter with fresh oysters, shrimp, and crab. 

Jimmy's Food Store is a longstanding Italian specialty shop owned by the DiCarlo family. They offer imported cheeses, pastas, meats, fine wines, and prepared foods with a warm local welcome. We always enjoy their made-to-date subs found in the back of the store. There is often a wait, but the authentic ingredients and great deals on Italian favorites make it a true neighborhood gem. 

The Katy Trail is a beloved part of Dallas culture. In fact, our office sits right alongside it. Crowded with people walking dogs, biking, or grabbing coffee with friends, it runs through Uptown and Oak Lawn, connecting Victory Park to Highland Park. The shaded paths stay well maintained, and it feels like a central gathering spot where everyone in the city can meet up. 

Neuhaus Chocolates, at the iconic Preston and Royal intersection, is a family owned favorite. The Sacher family first opened Neuhaus at NorthPark before relocating to Preston Hollow in the 80s. We stop in for salads, pastas, Belgian chocolates, and desserts and feel at home while in the space. 

In Deep Ellum, Revolver Taco serves some of our favorite cheffy tacos with handmade tortillas and slow cooked meats. We particularly enjoy options like the trompo style al pastor, duck carnitas, or brisket layered with fresh cilantro, onion, and balanced sauces. It brings bold, intentional flavors that highlight the exciting food scene in Dallas. 

The Charles, in the Design District, offers stylish, upscale wood fired Italian classics with wine and cocktails. We like the area for its concentration of high-end restaurants and appreciate touches like Bar Charles, the speakeasy in the back. It is a great place to experience sophisticated dining for a special occasion. 

How can you talk about Dallas without mentioning Highland Park Village? The Conservatory is located inside the iconic luxury outdoor shopping center. This flagship store features women's and men's clothing, accessories, jewelry, apothecary, gifts, and home items rooted in considered luxury from 200 brands. The attached Teak Tearoom serves casual lunch, wine, and cocktails in a treetop setting, making it a unique local discovery rather than just another international name.
