Tumble22 started in Austin as a food truck by James Beard-recognized chef Harold Marmulstein. Harold then partnered with Guy Villavaso and Larry Foles, founders of Eddie V’s, Wildfish Seafood Grille, Hopdoddy, and others. Recently, Doug Thompson, former COO of TX Roadhouse, who helped expand the brand to over 600 stores and $4 billion in sales, acquired Tumble22. Guy and Larry stayed on through the sale and are now on the board.
Tumble22 now operates six restaurants, four of which are unique freestanding buildings. Their most recent location in Houston is a remodeled church, and their Lake Austin location was converted from a residential duplex. This is not a fast-casual chicken tender concept. Tumble22 is a full-service brand with a full bar, offering high-quality, boldly flavored food crafted by a James Beard chef. They serve incredible sides, homemade pies, and excellent cocktails. Tumble22 has a strong and loyal following and, as an Austin brand, is well-positioned to expand throughout the state.
